Email AccountsYou should know how many email accounts you can have on the same domain name, where you would have one email account that allows customers or visitors to email you, another email account for another department such as billing or accounting, one for each of the number of staff you have on hand. Different web hosting companies offer different options for email. Some allow you up to 10 accounts, some only one account, some give you unlimited. If you are operating a small company or small website, then you may only need two or three mailboxes. POP Accounts vs Email AliasesA POP account is an email account that you can access on a mail server with a username and a password. Your mail for that account is stored on that server, and you can download it using your mail client. An email "alias" is just that. It is a pointer that points email coming in to a particular POP account. It cannot store mail itself, and must be used in conjunction with a full account. Make sure that if you want a fully functional POP account, that your provider says they offer POP service. "Email Forwarding" allows you to set up another email address to which you want emails sent when they arrive to a certain email address in this account. If you have an existing POP email account and just want email aliases that people can use that will send messages to your existing POP account, then look for a host that offers aliasing.
